Bellator And PFL Presidents Confirm Merger Talks

There’s been rumors floating around for a while that the Bellator and PFL promotions may be in talks about a potential merger, and now the two company’s have confirmed that is the case.

“Bellator has been looking to take a partner,” Bellator president Scott Coker confirmed a day prior to their event this past weekend. “That’s really been Viacom that’s been handling that. So we’ll see where that nets out. We’ll probably have some clarity in the next 60 to 90 days.

“… (PFL) is definitely in the conversation. There’s a couple conversations going on right now with Viacom and other companies. PFL is definitely one of them.”

Meanwhile, after PFL’s latest show at the weekend he too acknowledged that discussions were ongoing on the matter.

“All I can say about that is yes, we are in talks, and on due time that will be finalized, but yeah, at the moment we’re still having conversations,” Sefo said.

MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani had previously suggested back in early May that talk of PFL buying Bellator didn’t hold much water, claiming that they’d ‘kicked the tires’ on a possible deal, but it had gone no further than that.

At that stage Helwani had said that Bellator were on the market though and that two other ‘major players’ were in the running to buy the MMA outfit.
