Bobby Green Says Nobody Cares About Islam Makhachev Because He’s Boring

Bobby Green is not a man to mince his words and so when he was asked for his thoughts about Islam Makhachev, his short-notice opponent this coming Saturday night, he said exactly how he feels.

“With Islam, he does what he does,” Green told MMAJunkie.  “But to be honest, it’s kind of boring.

“Even if he’s getting finishes, it’s still been boring. So my whole thing is entertainment, excitement. He can be championship material, but it’s just f*cking boring. Nobody wants to see it. Nobody cares. I fall asleep watching his fights, then it’s, ‘Oh, there’s the finish.’ They can show a bunch of finishes and it’s cool, but it was sleeping and boring and it’s lackluster. For some of these guys, it’s just a match.”

Nevertheless, Green acknowledges that with Makhachev coming in off a nine-fight winning streak, he’s going to be a tough nut to crack.

“He’s been really downplaying me, and I’m going to keep it 100 for you: He’s a good opponent,” Green admitted.  “I think he’s definitely – he’s been on this win-streak. He is championship material if you’re talking about wins – if you’re talking about just wins.”

Green is coming off a dominant decision win over Nasrat Haqparast just a couple of weeks ago that caught people’s attention and also TKO’d Al Iaquinta late last year, so as an unranked lightweight this is a big opportunity for the UFC veteran to propel himself into the mix if he can deliver an upset win tomorrow night.
