Brian Ortega vs. The Korean Zombie Targeted For October 17th Headliner

A fight between featherweight stars Brian Ortega and ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung has been targeted to headline a UFC event on October 17th.

This fight was originally scheduled to happen in December of last year, but a knee injury kept Ortega from competing and then the global pandemic this year left the fight on the backburner again, but it not appears to finally be going ahead.

By the time October comes along it will have been almost two years since Ortega last set foot in the Octagon in a title fight with Max Holloway that saw him get badly beaten up and TKO’d, bringing his 15-fight unbeaten streak to an end.

Still, the 29-year-old Ortega’s prior wins over the likes of Frankie Edgar, Cub Swanson, Renato Moicano and Clay Guida on his way to that title shot showed that he is a major force to be reckoned with.

As for The Korean Zombie, he has similar big name wins in his recent past, having finished both Edgar and Moicano by first round TKO during his 2019 campaign, earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus too on each occasion.

As such, The Zombie heads into his first fight in 2020 as the No.4 ranked contender at 145lbs, while despite his inactivity Ortega still holds onto the No.2 spot.
