Bruno Silva Knocks Out Wellington Turman Via Ground And Pound At UFC On ESPN 25

Bruno Silva had a reputation for finishing fights via strikes on the regional circuit and he showed it again tonight in his promotional debut tonight at UFC On ESPN 25, knocking Wellington Turman out cold with heavy ground and pound strikes late in the opening round.

Round One:

Early kick from Turman and then a takedown attempt. He doesn’t get it at first, but almost drags Silva to the mat. Silva grabbing the cage and gets a warning from the ref.

Turman drags Silva away from the cage and pulls him down. However, Silva drives up and now he has Turman clinched up against the cage and lands a knee.

Turman reversing the clinch and as they battle for position he’s looking for a possible kimura. He gives up on that, but shunt around and works for a choke, then tries for a takedown.

Silva staying upright but being worked hard in the early stages of this fight. Turman now hops onto Silva’s back. He’s softening him up with a few punches to the body and head.

Silva leaning forward and starts to shake Turman off him. Turman does slide off and then Silva is on top in his opponent’s full guard and landing heavy ground and pound.

Into the final minute of the round here with Turman attempting an armbar set-up, but Silva avoids it and blasts him with some more clean punches. Turman not doing the best job of avoiding these and a few big left hooks render Turman unconscious.
