Chad Mendes Vs Alexander Volkanovski Set For UFC 232

Chad Mendes next fight will be against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 232 in Las Vegas on December 29th.

Mendes will be fighting for only the second time in the past three years after serving a lengthy drug suspension after testing positive for a banned growth hormone.

However, he quickly got back into the swing of things in his comeback fight back in July, TKO’ing Myles Jury in the first round to improve his overall MMA record to 18-4.

Now he’ll go up against the in-form Australia Volkanovski who has amassed an impressive 18-1 record that includes five victories in a row since joining the UFC, defeating the likes of Mizuto Hirota, Jeremy Kennedy and most recently Darren Elkins.

In fact, it’s been over 5 years since Volkanovski last tasted defeat, so it does now seem as if he’s more than earned the opportunity to take a step up to a higher profile opponent like Mendes.

Mendes Vs Volkanovski joins a UFC 232 card that will be headlined by two title fights, with Jon Jones set to face up against Alexander Gustafsson for the second time in their careers with the vacant light-heavyweight strap on the line, while there’s superfight action in the co-main vent as featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ defends the title against bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes.
