A middleweight fight between two in-form up-and-comers Chris Curtis and Dricus Du Plessis will take place at UFC 273 on April 9th.
Known as ‘The Action Man’, Curtis was already a well-established veteran on the regional circuit prior to bursting onto the UFC scene last year, included already having earned four fights in for other promotions earlier in 2021.
He continued that fine run of form in the octagon with a first round KO victory over Phil ‘Megatron’ Hawes in November, and then just a month later ended the year on a high with a TKO stoppage of Brendan Allen, leaving him with an overall 28-8 record.
Despite only being two fights into his UFC run, Du Plessis has also made a big initial impression, starting with a knockout victory over Markus Perez in 2020, and he’s since racked up another KO stoppage win in the summer of last year against Trevin Giles, taking his overall career record to 16-2.
Curtis vs. Du Plessis joins a UFC 273 card that will feature two title fights at the top of the bill, with featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski set to fight ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung, while bantamweight titleholder Aljamain Sterling will finally undergo his rematch with ex-champ Petr Yan in the co-main event.
