Claudia Gadelha vs. Marina Rodriguez Announced For UFC Fight Night 174

Claudia Gadelha’s next fight will be against Marina Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 174 in Oklahoma City on May 2nd.

Gadelha had been all set to fight at UFC On ESPN 7 recently against Alexa Grasso, but the fight was cancelled the day before it took place after her opponent weighed in 5.5lbs over the strawweight limit.

Since then Gadelha had voiced an interest in fighting Rodriguez instead and her wish has now been granted, though the Brazilian had indicated she had hoped to fight sooner than May.

Gadelha is coming off a unanimous decision win over Randa Markos back in July of last year, which has continued a recent sequence of alternating between wins and losses.

Her other victories during that spell have included Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Carla Esparza, while she’s also tasted defeat against Jessica Andrade and Nina Ansaroff.

As for Rodriguez, she fought to a majority draw decision against Cynthia Calvillo in December. Not quite the result she was hoping for, but nevertheless it maintains her unbeaten career record, which now stays at 12-0-2.

That includes three victories in the UFC against Maria de Oliveira Neta, Jessica Aguilar and Tecia Torres along with another majority draw when she fought Randa Markos.

Gadelha vs. Rodriguez joins a UFC Fight Night 174 card that currently doesn’t have any other notable bouts attached to it yet.
