Colby Covington’s Crude Comments Cause Commotion At UFC 296 Presser

Colby Covington lived up to his ‘bad guy’ reputation at the UFC 296 pre-fight press conference yesterday with his no-holds-barred approach to trash-talking.

Covington’s opponent in Saturday night’s main event, welterweight champion Leon Edwards has been happy to just laugh off much of his controversial opponent’s jibes during fight week, but one particularly cruel remark referencing his deceased father provoked an angry response from the British star, who proceeded to throw a water bottle at him.

“I’m bringing you to the seventh layer of hell,” Covington, dressed as George Washington with a MAGA hat on, had said to Edwards. “We’ll say ‘what’s up’ to your dad while we’re there.”

Edwards wasn’t the only target in Covington’s sights though as he also talked trash about the absent Ian Garry and even Stephen Thompson. He even had a bizarre exchange with Tony Ferguson in which they initially traded insults, before seconds later bonding over their love of America.

Don’t take our word for it though, check out the full UFC 296 presser below.
