Conor McGregor Claims He’ll Fight Michael Chandler At 185lbs In June

It seems that ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor couldn’t wait until New Years Day to deliver the news about his comeback fight as today on social media he posted a video in which he claims he’ll be fighting Michael Chandler at the end of June.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Happy New Year to you all,” McGregor said. “I’d like to announce the return date for myself, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor. The greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas for International Fight Week on June 29, and the opponent, Michael Chandler.”

There was a final sting in the tale though, as McGregor revealed the weight class for the fight, before laughing maniacally.

“And the weight Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds,”

It’s not the first time McGregor has teased the possibility of fighting Chandler at middleweight, and as such his rival is playing it cool regarding his claim.

“I always said I wanted you at your biggest, your baddest and your best. 185 would look good on me,” Chandler replied to McGregor.

Is McGregor still just playing mind games though? At this stage the UFC hasn’t officially confirmed the fight, the date or the destination, so we’ll have to wait and see.

However, the fact that McGregor didn’t mention UFC 300 in April suggests that Dana White was telling the truth when he claimed the Irish superstar likely wouldn’t fight until the summer.
