UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has taken aim at one of his rivals, Khabib Nurmagomedov, after the Russian’s impressive win over Edson Barboza at UFC 219 on Saturday night.
Nurmagomedov extended his UFC record to 10-0 and improved his overall career run to a perfect 25-0 with a dominant display of grappling and ground and pound against the Brazilian, but ‘The Notorious’ claims he wasn’t impressed by his performance.
“That Dagestani was dog shit the other night you’s are all nuts,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Game full of sloppy bums asking to be slept. Pay me my worth and Kings back.
“Truly truly truly get on your f–king knees and beg me. Otherwise I don’t give a bollox,” McGregor wrote. “My whiskey is out this year and that’s Diddy bread.
“Now get your Diddy’s out and beg.”
For those not following that, McGregor is referencing rapper P. Diddy, aka Sean Combs, who successfully transitioned to become a wealthy entrepeneur with his own clothing line, restaurants and a 50% share of Vodka brand Ciroc’s profits, among other ventures.
Clearly McGregor hopes to follow in his footsteps, and with a hundred million in the bank already from his single fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2017, the UFC will need to pay out an astronomical fee to ensure he steps back into the Octagon this year.
However, when he does so it’s unlikely to be against Nurmagomedov as Tony Ferguson is the current interim champion and Dana White has already indicated that’s the fight he wants to see McGregor take next.
He has other options though, with a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz also being a possibility, while there’s also the potential for a clash of the titans against Georges St-Pierre at 170lbs, and not forgetting the chance that he could return to the boxing ring, where a queue of big name stars are only too eager to get a chance to lock horns with him.
