Conor McGregor has told his rival Michael Chandler that their previously cancelled fight will “for sure” still be happening later this year.
McGregor and Chandler’s long-awaited fight had been expected to take place at UFC 303 last month, but ‘The Notorious’ pulled out a couple of weeks out from the show after suffering a broken toe in training.
With McGregor already having been out of action for three years due to a broken leg that led to concerns that perhaps ‘The Notorious’ may never fight again, but it seems he’s still determined to compete again.
“I talked to Dana today about our new date, all looking good,” McGregor told Chandler on Twitter during a rare social media cease-fire between the two. “[2024] for sure.”
” @TheNotoriousMMA,” Chandler responded.
Chandler had previously indicated that he’d been expecting some clarity on what’s going to happen soon, so perhaps McGregor’s conversation with Dana White was what he was referring to.
As such, it now seems likely that Chandler’s hints at entertaining the idea of fighting Nate Diaz at The Sphere in September will be scrapped as he goes back to waiting for what would be by far the biggest payday of his career against McGregor.
