Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino To Fight Megan Anderson For 145lb Title At UFC 214

At last Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino’s next fight has been officially announced and it will see her take on Megan Anderson for the women’s featherweight title at UFC 214 on July 24th in Anaheim, California.

UFC officials confirmed the match-up today, while at the same time also informing Germaine de Randamie that she has been stripped for her 145lb title due to her refusal to fight ‘Cyborg.’

“[The] UFC has informed Germaine de Randamie and her management team that she is being removed as the women’s featherweight champion due to her unwillingness to fight the No. 1 ranked contender, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino,” a statement from the promotion reads. “UFC maintains that any champion is expected to accept fights against the top contenders in their respective weight classes in order to maintain the integrity of the sport.”

This will be ‘Cyborg’s’ third fight in the UFC, but the first in her natural weight class, with her two previous TKO victories over Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg having taken place at a catchweight of 140lbs.

Those wins took the Brazilian star’s overall career record to an impressive 17-1 (+1nc), with her solitary loss having occurred all the way back in 2005 during her professional debut.

As for Anderson, she joins the UFC from Invicta FC where she was their current featherweight champion, having claimed the belt in January after defeating Charmaine Tweet via TKO.

In total, the 27-year-old Anderson is 8-2 in her MMA career and is currently on a four-fight winning streak.

With ‘Cyborg’ Vs Anderson now confirmed at last, it will take the co-main event spot on the UFC 214 fight card, which is set to be headlined by another major title fight as light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier heads into a must-see rematch with Jon Jones.
