Cub Swanson has announced that he will be fighting Brian Ortega in the main event of UFC Fight Night 123 in Fresno, California on December 9th.
Swanson is currently ranked No.4 in the featherweight division after having strung together a four-fight unbeaten run over the past 18 months.
Most notably, the 33-year-old earned a decision victory in a thrilling encounter with ‘The Korean Superboy’ Doo Ho Choi in December that would go down as 2016’s ‘Fight Of The Year.’
He’s also earned further decision wins over the likes of Hacran Dias, Tatsuya Kawajiri and most recently Artem Lobov during this spell, extending his overal career record to 25-7.
In 26-year-old Ortega he faces a potential star of the future, who is unbeaten in his 13 fights to date, including four victories in the Octagon against Thiago Tavares, Diego Brandao, Clay Guida and Renato Moicano.
That’s left ‘T-City’ ranked at No.6, two places behind Swanson, and a win here could well put him into the title picture at 145lbs.
Swanson Vs Ortega tops a UFC Fight Night 123 card that’s yet to have much in the way of major bouts announced aside from a clash of former women’s bantamweight title challengers, Liz Carmouche and Alexis Davis.
