Curtis Blaydes TKO’d Chris Daukaus at UFC On ESPN 33 on Saturday night and has since advised his opponent that heavyweight isn’t the right weight class for him and that he should now drop down to 205lbs.

“I think honestly, no shade, he should probably drop down to light heavyweight,” Blaydes said at the post-fight press conference. “Not everyone’s a heavyweight. It’s OK. Just cause you weigh 245 does not mean you’re a heavyweight, so he should drop down.”

“I don’t think (he can beat the best heavyweights),” Blaydes added later. “And that’s no shade. He’s skilled, but you have to be big, and you have to be strong. That’s like a pre-requisite. That’s like a flyweight that’s not fast. You can’t. That doesn’t work.”

Daukaus started his heavyweight run in the UFC well with four wins via strikes in a row, but has now suffered back-to-back losses, with his other defeat coming by KO against Derrick Lewis back in December of last year.

So far the 32-year-old Daukaus hasn’t given any indication about whether he plans to continue competing at heavyweight in a statement he issued after the fight.

“There’s always negativity from people after a loss, often we linger too long on that,” Daukaus wrote. “I’m very appreciative for the people who have not done that and who have reached out with positivity. You guys are the best, especially @Boogerbeard1 @MacMallyMMA thank you.
