Curtis Blaydes vs. Sergei Pavlovich Headlines UFC Fight Night 223

A heavyweight clash between Curtis Blaydes and Sergei Pavlovich has been announced as the headliner for UFC Fight Night 223 on April 22nd.

The 31-year-old Blaydes comes into the fight on a three-fight winning streak that’s seen him earn a unanimous decision win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik followed by back-to-back TKO victories against Chris Daukaus and Tom Aspinall.

In total that means the No.4 ranked Blaydes UFC record now stands at an impressive 12-3 (+1nc), with his only losses coming to former champion Francis Ngannou (x2) and Derrick Lewis.

Now he’ll be going up against the 30-year-old Pavlovich who has been making big strides up the rankings thanks to a five-fight winning streak in the promotion over the past few years.

Not only that, but Pavlovich has finished every one of those fights in the first round via strikes, starting with a KO win over Marcelo Golm, TKO’s of Maurice Green, Shamil Abdurakhimov and Derrick Lewis and then most recently KO’ing Tai Tuivasa to take the No.3 spot on the rankings.

Blaydes vs. Pavlovich fronts a UFC Fight Night 223 card that doesn’t yet have a destination confirmed, but will also feature the likes of Song Yadong vs. Ricky Simon, Bobby Green vs. Jared Gordon and Brad Tavares vs. Bruno Silva.
