Cynthia Calvillo Steps In To Fight Andrea Lee At UFC Fight Night 197

With Jessica Eye having been forced out of her upcoming fight with Andrea Lee at UFC Fight Night 197 on November 13th, Cynthia Calvillo has now been drafted in as her replacement.

It’s a relatively quick turnaround for Calvillo as it was less than a month ago that she suffered a TKO loss to Jessica Andrade in the first round of their fight at UFC 266.

That had marked Calvillo’s second loss in a row after moving up to 125lbs, having previously came out on the wrong end of a unanimous decision verdict against Katlyn Chookagian last year, though she does also hold a decision win over the aforementioned Eye in the weight class.

Still, it’s not been as good of a run as she experienced during her time at strawweight, where she compiled a 5-1-1 record in the UFC before being forced to move up a division following a series of failures to make weight.

As for Lee, not so long ago her back was against the wall after suffering three losses in a row on the scorecards, but she turned things around last time out with a second round submission stoppage of Antonina Shevchenko in May.

Calvillo vs. Lee takes place on a UFC Fight Night 197 card that is currently expected to be headlined by Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez, while a rematch between Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus is also earmarked for the main card line-up.
