A fight between Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo will headline an upcoming UFC event on June 13th at a destination that is still to be confirmed, but is likely to be earmarked for the APEX faility in Las Vegas.
Calvillo is moving up to flyweight for this bout after putting together a 5-1-1 record at strawweight. Calvillo had missed the 115lb weight limit on no less than three occasions during that run, so it’s no surprise that she’s finally moving up a division.
Calvillo’s last outing back in December of last year with Marina Rodriguez ended in a majority draw, but before that she had registered a submission victory over Poliana Botelho and a decision win against Cortney Casey.
Meanwhile, Eye fought for the flyweight title last year, losing out via a second round head kick KO against Valentina Shevchenko, after compiling a three-fight winning streak to earn the shot at the belt.
However, Eye has since bounced back with a unanimous decision victory against Vivian Araujo in December at a catchweight due to Eye having missed the flyweight limit.
As such, Eye is still ranked as the No.1 contender at flyweight, while Calvillo held the No.10 spot on the strawweight ladder prior to her move up in weight.
