According to Dana White there’s still a very real possibility that Brock Lesnar could still fight in the UFC, and if so he has a blockbuster superfight in mind for the former heavyweight champion.
“I know that Brock’s WWE deal is up at the end of the summer, I think, and I know he wants to fight so I’m sure we’ll end up getting that figured out,” White told TMZ Sports.
White then went on to reveal that former light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones could be an opponent for Lesnar if and when he does return.
“[Francis Ngannou] is a fine fight, absolutely. There’s a lot of options. Jon Jones is very interested in Brock Lesnar and Brock is very interested in Jon Jones.”
That does indeed appear to be the case, at least from Jones’ perspective given his response in answer to a question from a fan today.
“I don’t underestimate Brock Lesnar,Dudes been whooping ass his whole life,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “He’s just facing a different animal this time that’s all.”
However, at the same time Jones also indicated that permanent move up to heavyweight isn’t on the cards.
“Honestly don’t think I’m ever going to officially move to heavy weight. I make 205 way too easily. I will start picking off super fights tho.. heavyweights take way too much damage.”
With all that said, it’s worth remembering that Jones is still awaiting a verdict from USADA on any potential punishment that he may receive after testing positive for Turinabol last year, so it’s possible that he could still be out for an extended period of time.
