All five winners on last night’s episode of Dana White Contender Series 7 earned a UFC contract.
They included main event winner Brendson Ribeiro, who was backed up to the cage by Bruno Lopes as they approached the final minute of the opening round, only to then punish his opponent for a missed punch by firing off two right hands that sent him crashing to the canvas, followed by big hammerfists that sealed the deal via KO.
The co-main event also ended early as Serhiy Sidey put down Ramon Tavares with a one-two and then started to land ground-and-pound as the ref rushed in to end the fight a little prematurely.
Dylan Budka can count himself lucky to have earned a contract after Dana White branded his grinding, wrestle-heavy unanimous decision win over Chad Hanekom as one of the worst fights in Contender Series history!
Jean Silva also earned a contract after he came off second-best in the early stages of his fight with Kevin Vallejos, but then rallied back strongly and rocked his opponent with a big knee in the 2nd round, with more good work in the final five minutes ensuring his unanimous decision victory.
The first fight of the night also delivered a new addition to the UFC roster, with Dione Barbosa earning her spot thanks to an armbar submission finish of Rainn Guerrero late in the opening round.
