Daniel Cormier Will Play A Role In New ‘Warriors’ TV Show

Retired two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is set to play a role in a new TV spin-off show inspired by the MMA movie, ‘Warrior’.

That’s the word according to director Tom O’Connor, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the film by unveiling the new spin-off show, ‘Warriors’, which he will direct and executive produce, with Lionsgate Film set to produce it for the streaming market.

The original movie, starring Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton and Nick Nolte, told the story of two brothers fighting there way to a lucrative MMA tournament and was well received by critics, with Nolte even being nominated for an academy award for his part in it.

There’s no word yet on who will play the major roles this time around, but what we do know is that Cormier will play the role of Bobby Watkins, who, “lives in Houston and is fighting his way out of poverty for his family.”

It will be another of many strings to Cormier’s bow, as in addition to his MMA accolades as a two-division UFC champion and former Strikeforce tournament winner, he was also an Olympic-calibre wrestler, while these days he’s become a UFC color-commentator and analyst, as well as fronting ESPN’s ‘Details’ series.
