Daniel Rodriguez showed off his stand-up skills tonight at UFC On ABC 2 as he picked apart Mike Perry with straight punches and leg kicks.
Round One:
Leg kick for Perry to start and then another on the inside. Lunging straight for Perry . Clipping left hook for Rodriguez and then a crisp jab.
Body kick for Perry. Rodriguez pumping out a piston-like jab. Now a leg kick. Perry returns with a leg kick of his own.
Overhand for Rodriguez and leg kick from Perry. Head kick attempt from Perry. Right hook counter from Rodriguez. Perry just whiffs on a hook of his own.
Leg kick for Rodriguez on the inside. Clubbing right hand from Perry. Right and left hand for Rodriguez and leg kick.
Big punch from Rodriguez sends Perry backwards. Boy kick from Perry. Hard inside leg kick from Rodriguez and then a solid straight down the middle.
Body punch from Perry. Rodriguez with a body kick. Now an outside leg kick. Head kick attempt from Perry.
Rodriguez with head movement and then a one-two. Another one-two lands cleanly and Perry takes a deep breath.
Solid calf kick for Rodriguez. Rodriguez aborts on a jab and Perry goes underneath for a takedown attempt. He does land it and after a scramble he settles on top.
Perry works his head free of a guillotine attempt and works from full guard, then passes to half. Final 10 seconds of the round and he grinds his elbow into Rodriguez’s face, but can’t get much offense off.
Round Two:Round Three:
Inside leg kick for Rodriguez. Uppercut lands as Perry tries to wade forward. Jab and a leg kick for Rodriguez. Perry with a leg kick. Perry lunges forward and gets caught with a punch. Perry throwing a head kick.
Perry ducks into a takedown, but Rodriguez defends it as they hit the cage. Rodriguez falls on top of Perry but they get straight back up.
Rodriguez immediately back to landing a clean punch. Jab and a leg kick for Rodriguez. Body kick for Perry. Leg kick and jab for Rodriguez. Perry with a leg kick.
series of punches down the pipe for Rodriguez. Another power left hand for Rodriguez. Perry gets a couple of straight punches through and then lands to the body.
Hook for Rodriguez as Perry also landed a punch. Big left hook for D-Rod. Punch for Rodriguez. Knee to the body from Perry. He lands another strike to the body. Two left hands for Rodriguez. Now two jabs. Back to thte leg kick. Body kick now.
Big right and left hook for Rodriguez. Inside leg kick. Left hand scores. Rodriguez attempts a late takedown, but Perry does well to stuff it and then presses his opponent into the cage.
Rodriguez lets his hands go one last time with a flurry of straight punches to end the round.
Decision:
Strong performance from Rodriguez then against what appeared to be a re-focused but ultimately outmatched Perry, leading to a unanimous decision victory (30-27 x2, 30-26).
