Daniel Rodriguez KO’s Dwight Grant In Wild First Round At UFC On ESPN 15

Both Daniel Rodriguez and Dwight Grant were dropped in the first half of the opening round tonight at UFC On ESPN 15, but in the end it was D-Rod who emerged victorious by way of knockout.

Round One:

Right hand lands for Grant. Now a low calf kick. Rodriguez lands one of his own. He lands a right hand now.

Body punch from Grant. He lands a big right hand and D-Rod goes down! Grant follows him down and starts landing sustained ground and pound.

The fight looks close to being over, but then Rodriguez manages to improve his position and get to his knees.

They get back up to their feet and immediately Rodriguez lands a left hook that drops Grant. He gets back up, but Rodriguez is immediately pressing forward and starts landing punches up against the cage. Then Grant clips him with another punch of his own, but he seems unphased by that one.

Grant still looking a bit unsteady here as Rodriguez continues to hunt him down looking to land more big punches.

D-Rod connects with a left hook and Grant’s legs buckle. He gets back up, but Rodriguez blasts him with repeated right hands that send him back down again and that’s it, Rodriguez gets the KO finish at 2.24mins of the first round.
