Darren Till Vs Stephen Thompson Proceeds With Conditions After Weight Issues

Darren Till’s headlining fight with Stephen Thompson will go ahead tomorrow in Liverpool, England, despite the UK fighter missing weight for the contest.

Till weighed in at 174.5lbs earlier today, 3.5lbs over the limit, despite being given an extra hour to make weight due to a ‘family emergency’ that had allegedly disrupted his weight cut.

After negotiations however, the fight will go ahead, but Till will have to forfeit 30% of his purse to ‘Wonderboy’ in addition to other conditions.

They include the fact that Till will now have to weigh-in against at 1pm on Sunday, approximately 8 hours before his fight, at which time he must way no more than 188lbs, with members of Thompson’s team being allowed to observe him doing so.

At today’s ceremonial weigh-ins, Till briefly apologized for missing weight, but appeared not to be dwelling on it.

“I want to apologize for missing weight,” Till told the fans in attendance. “S**t happens… I know I can finish Stephen Thompson.”
