Hot on the heels of his successful flyweight title defense against Alex Perez this past Saturday night, Deiveson Figueiredo has agreed to a quick turnaround against Brandon Moreno at UFC 256 on December 12th.
Figueiredo took less than two minutes to tap-out Perez, while Moreno also fought on Saturday night against Brandon Royval and secured a TKO stoppage with just one second of the opening round remaining, leaving both feeling fresh enough to accept another on less than a month’s notice.
Figueiredo is now on a five-fight winning streak that started with a decision win over Alexandre Pantoja, followed by a submission stoppage of Tim Elliott and impressive back-to-back TKO finishes of Joseph Benavidez.
In total the Brazilian now has a 20-1 record with 17 of those victories having come inside the distance by either strikes or submission.
As for Moreno, he has three wins and a draw from his last four UFC fights, defeating the likes of Kai Kara-France and Jussier Formiga as well as the aforementioned Royval.
The UFC brass will be breathing a sigh of relief that they now have a title fight on-board for UFC 256 as two previously scheduled title bouts for the PPV card have fallen through in recent times.
Firstly, Amanda Nunes withdrew from her featherweight title fight with Megan Anderson due to an undisclosed injury, while the latest word out of Russia is that bantamweight champion Petr Yan has also stepped down from a fight against Aljamain Sterling due to personal reasons.
