Demetrious Johnson Vs Ray Borg To Headline UFC 215

Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has been granted his wish to fight Ray Borg next, and he’ll do so as the headliner at UFC 215 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on September 9th.

‘Mighty Mouse’ will be looking to make history on the night, as if he’s successful he will break Anderson Silva’s record of 10 successful title defenses in a row.

After originally targeting Borg for the occasion, the UFC suddenly started pushing hard for Johnson to accept an out-of-the-blue challenge from former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw instead a couple of months ago.

However, Johnson stuck to his guns and will indeed face the 23-year-old, No.3 ranked Borg, who is coming off back-to-back wins over Louis Smolka and Jussier Formiga and has compiled an overall 5-2 run in the Octagon to date.

That’s a solid record, but it pales in comparison to Johnson, who has only tasted defeated once in his 16 fights for the UFC to date and is currently regarded as the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter in the sport.

Adding to his accolades, Johnson was also voted ‘Fighter Of The Year’ by fans at this years ESPY awards, beating out UFC superstar Conor McGregor and boxing stars like Terence Crawford, Gennady Golovkin and Andre Ward.

Johnson Vs Borg will headline a UFC 215 show that will also feature another title fight in the co-main event as Amanda Nunes puts her bantamweight belt on the line against Valentina Shevchenko.
