Derek Brunson vs. Dricus du Plessis Announced For UFC 285

A middleweight fight between Derek Brunson and Dricus du Plessis has been added to the UFC 285 card on March 4th in Las Vegas.

The 38-year-old Brunson only had one fight this year, suffering a KO loss to Jared Cannonier all the way back in February.

That loss brought an end to a five fight winning streak for Brunson, who had made major moves up the middleweight ladder after defeating the likes of Kevin Holland and Darren Till during that run.

Now the 5th ranked Brunson looks to get back to winning ways against the in-form du Plessis, who has picked up four wins since joining the roster following lengthy runs in the EFC Africa and KSW promotions.

Along the way du Plessis has secured two KO finishes against Markus Perez and Trevin Giles, along with a decision victory over Brad Tavares and submission stoppage of Darren Till just a couple of weeks ago to take the No.10 spot in the rankings.

Brunson vs. du Plessis joins a UFC 285 card that doesn’t yet have a main event confirmed, but will also feature the likes of Amanda Ribas vs. Viviane Araujo, Cody Garbrandt vs. Julio Arce and Jessica Penne vs. Tabatha Ricci.
