Derrick Lewis vs. Chris Daukaus Targeted For UFC Fight Night 200

A heavyweight clash between Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus is being targeted for the UFC Fight Night 200 event on December 18th in Las Vegas.

That’s the word according to Dana White on ESPN yesterday, with the suggestion being that it could serve as the headliner for the UFC’s final show of the year.

That signals that the UFC brass have been impressed by Daukaus, who racked up another TKO victory just last weekend against Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 266.

The 32-year-old Daukaus has now stopped all four of his UFC opponents to date via strikes, having TKO’d Parker Porter in his debut, then KO’d Rodrigo Nascimento followed by another TKO stoppage against Aleksei Oleinik, while racking up three ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses into the bargain.

This is a big step up in competition though as ‘The Black Beast’ is one of the heaviest hitters in the division and only just recently fought for the title against Ciryl Gane.

He may have lost that fight by TKO, but prior to that Lewis was on a four-fight winning streak and still holds down the No.3 spot on the heavyweight ladder, while Daukaus has just made his way into the Top 10.

Lewis vs. Daukaus joins a UFC Fight Night 200 card that will also feature the likes of Raphael Assuncao vs. Ricky Simon and Nina Nunes vs. Amanda Lemos.
