Derrick Lewis Was Arrested For Speeding 10 Days Before His Fight This Weekend

Derrick Lewis will headline this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 231 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil opposite Jailton Almeida, despite it emerging that he was arrested for speeding just 10 days before the fight.

Harris County police in Texas revealed that Lewis was caught driving 136mph in a 50mph zone in his red Lambourghini on Wednesday, October 25th. Lewis was spotted by a law official making unsafe lane changes as he made his way through traffic.

‘The Black Beast’ was subsequently arrested and charged with reckless driving, before being handed a $100 personal recognizance bond and released from custody on the same day.

The 38-year-old Lewis is reportedly now in Brazil as he prepares for his fight on Saturday night as he looks to claim his second win in a row, after TKO’ing Marcos Rogerio de Lima last time out.

That might be easier said than done though as Almedia will have the home advantage and has been bulldozing his way through the heavyweight ranks in the last couple of years, racking up five wins in a row inside the distance.
