Donald Cerrone Injured; Fight With Robbie Lawler At UFC 213 Likely To Be Postponed

UFC 213 has suffered a major blow with multiple sources reporting that Donald Cerrone has suffered an injury that will force him out of his scheduled fight with Robbie Lawler at UFC 213 on July 8th in Las Vegas.

That’s a real disappointment as this was arguably the most exciting fight on the entire card, even though it wasn’t occupying either the main or co-main event spots on the line-up.

This is now the second time the fight has been cancelled as it was originally set to take place at the star-studded UFC 205 in NYC last November.

However, fans might not have to wait too much longer to see the fight, as the suggestion is that Cerrone’s injury will only keep him out of action for a short period of time, and so it could be that his fight with Lawler may now land at UFC 214 on July 29th in Anaheim, California instead.

UFC 214 already has a strong line-up that includes a headlining 205lb title rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, plus Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino fighting for the vacant women’s 145lb belt against Tonya Evinger, while Renan Barao fights Aljamain Sterling and Jimi Manuwa squares up to Volkan Oezdemir.

As for UFC 213, with Cerrone Vs Lawler off, the pay-per-view line-up now includes a main event women’s bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko, plus Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker competing for the interim middleweight strap and a heavyweight trilogy encounter between Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem.
