A clash of veterans between Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon has been signed up for UFC Fight Night 208 on April 30th.
The match-up comes at a time when the 38-year-old Cerrone is in dire need of a win, having now gone six fights in a row without having his hand raised.
That’s a slump that did start with a series of tough fights against leading lights of the division in which he suffered a trio of TKO losses against Tony ferguson, Justin Gaethje and Conor McGregor.
He’s failed to get back on track since though, with a unanimous decision loss to Anthony Pettis being followed by a majority draw against Niko Price that was later amended to a no-contest due to his opponent testing positive for marijuana, while his last outing saw him take another TKO loss against Alex Morono.
As for Lauzon, he won his last fight via TKO against Jonathan Pearce, but that was all the way back in 2019. he had lost three fights in a row beforehand, including two by TKO, and so there was a sense that perhaps the 37-year-old was now set to drift off into retirement on a victory after a 43-fight run in the sport.
However, it now appears that he still has the desire to compete and will try to add another big-name win to his resume in April.
Cerrone vs. Lauzon joins a UFC Fight Night 208 card that is still in it’s fledgling stages, but will also features a bout between Antonina Shevchenko and Cortney Casey.
