Eagle FC 43 took place last night in Florida and we’ve got all the results for you below.
In the main event of the evening a heavyweight fight between Junior dos Santos and Yorgan de Castro ended in unfortunate circumstances due to a freak injury.
JDS had appeared to be coasting to a decision win as he worked his boxing fundamentals and made use of leg kicks to gain control of the stand-up action, but early in the third round he dislocated his shoulder while throwing a punch and with doctor’s being unable to pop it back in he couldn’t continue, resulting in de Castro being handed a TKO victory.
The co-main event between Hector Lombard and Thiago Silva also ended in less than ideal circumstances due to an illegal blow.
Lombard had started the fight strongly, with a left hand putting Silva down early, but the Brazilian survived his attempts to finish the fight on the mat.
Then in the second round it was Silva’s turn to drop Lombard with a solid right hand, but he then followed up with an illegal knee to the side of the head while his opponent was still down. It didn’t look like an especially hard hit, but it resulted in Lombard not being able to continue, leading to a no-contest result.
