A hard-hitting heavyweight encounter between Francis Ngannou and Junior dos Santos has been announced for the star-studded UFC 239 event in Las Vegas on July 6th during International Fight Week.
After a dip in form that saw him log in disappointing performances against Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis, ‘The Predator’ has got back to winning ways with a TKO win over Curtis Blaydes in November and then Cain Velasquez last month.
That has put Ngannou back on the verge of title contention as the No.2 ranked heavyweight in the world heading into this fight.
Former champion dos Santos has also enjoyed a return to form in recent times, racking up a trio of wins in the past year.
It started with a decision victory over Blagoy Ivanov in July of last year, followed by TKO stoppages over Tai Tuivasa and then Derrick Lewis, which has left the Brazilian star ranked just one place behind Ngannou at No.3 in the division.
Ngannou Vs dos Santos joins a UFC 239 card that is set to be headlined by Jon Jones latest light-heavyweight title defense against Thiago Santos, while bantamweight champio Amanda Nunes returns to face Holly Holm in the co-main event of the evening.
