Francisco Trinaldo vs. John Makdessi Set For UFC Fight Night 170

Francisco Trinaldo will fight John Makdessi at UFC Fight Night 170 in Brasilia, Brazil on March 14th.

The 41-year-old Trinaldo is coming off a unanimous decision win over Bobby Green back in November.

That continues a pattern of alternating between wins and losses for the veteran campaigner over the past few years, with other wins coming against the likes of Paul Felder, Jim Miller and Evan Dunham, while he’s also suffered losses against Kevin Lee, James Vick and Alexander Hernandez.

As such, Trinaldo, who back in 2016 was riding a seven-fight winning streak, is currently not featured in the lightweight rankings.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Makdessi is heading into 2020 with three wins in a row under his belt, having earned unanimous decision victories against Abel trujillo, Ross Pearson and most recently Jesus Pinedo.

Makdessi has only been fighting once a year lately though and it’ll again have been a full 12 months by the time he steps in to face Trinaldo in March.

Trinaldo vs. Makdessi joins a UFC Fight Night 170 card that will also feature Demian Maia vs. Gilbert Burns, Johnny Walker vs. Nikita Krylov and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs. Alexey Kunchenko, but as yet no bout has been confirmed as the evening’s headliner.
