Geoff Neal racked up his biggest win to date in style tonight at UFC On ESPN 40 with a third round knockout victory over Vicente Luque.
Round One:
Inside leg kick from Luque. Now a body kick. Body kick in response from Neal. Glancing left hand from Neal.
Neal with a short flurry inside and Luque landed a counter punch in there too. Straight right for Luque. Now a body kick. Neal lands his own body kick.
Punch from Neal. Double jab for him now. Leg kick from Luque. One-two from Luque. Neal covering up and then lands a crisp left hand that buckles Luque’s legs, but he stays upright.
Neal presses forward looking to capitalize on that, but Luque shows good powers of recovery and is soon back to pressuring his opponent.
Left hand from Neal. Luque tries a flying knee that doesn’t connect. That left hand from Neal is continuing to get through and has bloodied up his nose.
Luque goes for a kick, but gets knocked off-balance from a Neal punch. Luque trying to be offensive, but again Neal connects and sends Luque backwards.
Luque backing up and hiding behind the guard for a few moments. Neal landing a right and that puts Luque down for a moment.
Great round for Neal so far. Luque with a light combo. Neal blasts him again and Luque is retreating on wobbled legs again, but makes it to the end of the round.
Round Two:
Body kick from Luque. Now a low kick. Neal with a leg kick of his own. Another solid body kick for Luque.
Grazing right hook from Neal. Body kick from Luque. Neal pumps out the left hand a couple of times. Low kick for Luque.
They exchange kicks to the midsection. Neal throws the left hand and a body kick behind it. Luque with a body kick.
Front kick to the body from Luque. Now a conventional body kick. Right hand for Neal. Now a left. Body kick from Luque comes off the arm.
Inside leg kick from Luque. Neal tries to counter with punches. left hand gets through for Neal. Body kick from Luque.
Single-leg takedown attempt from Neal and does gets him to the mat, but he immediately springs back up.
Neal goes into the clinch, but Luque lands a nice elbow. Now it’s Neal who blasts him with a few heavy elbows.
Back to striking range and Neal lands thhat left hand and then a flurry of punches behind it. Luque backed up against the cage but punches his way around, working a couple of body punches and then a low kick.
Neal into the clinch, but not for long. Body kick for Luque. Neal lands a jab. Luque connects with his own and a body kick behind it. Another leg kick for Luque as Neal was looking to exchange.
Round Three:
Neal tries for a single leg but gives up on it immediately. left hand for Neal. Right hand from Luque. Not a front kick attempt from him to the body. He throws a body kick off the arm of Neal.
Jumping knee attempt from Luque. left hand from Neal. Leg kick for Luque. One-two for Neal. Now a right hook. The left hand gets through and backs up Luque slightly.
Inside leg kick from Luque. Flurry of punches from Neal and another left hand leaves Luque is on wobbled legs again as he’s backed up against the cage.
Uppercut series from Neal then straight punches, with a final left hand dropping Luque face-first onto the mat for a big KO finish at 2.01mins of the third round!
