A middleweight fight between Gregory Rodrigues and Brad Tavares has been announced for UFC Fight Night 236 on February 10th at a destination still to be confirmed.
The 31-year-old Rodrigues made a big impression in 2022 with a KO win over Julian Marquez followed by a bloody TKO victory over Chidi Njokuani, but he then got this year off to a bad start when he was KO’d by Brunno Ferreira in his native Brazil.
However, Rodrigues has since got back to winning ways with a swift elbow KO of Dennis Tiuliulin in August, extending his overall UFC run so far to 5-2.
Now he’ll take on a true veteran of the division in the 35-year-old Tavares, who has been with the promotion now for almost 14 years.
Tavares doesn’t fight as frequently as he used to, with his only fight in 2022 being a decision loss to Dricus du Plessis. Then in April he was TKO’d by Bruno Silva in the first round, but he’s since bounced back by handing former middleweight champion Chris Weidman a one-sided decision loss in his comeback fight.
Rodrigues vs. Tavares is currently the only fight attached to UFC Fight Night 236 so stay tuned for more updates on the line-up in the weeks ahead.
