Gregory Rodrigues vs. Brad Tavares Signed For UFC 283

Despite the sickening cut he suffered during is last fight a couple of weeks ago, fans won’t have long to wait for Gregory ‘Robocop’ Rodrigues’ next fight as he’s just signed up to fight Brad Tavares at UFC 283 on January 21st in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Rodrigues gained a lot of attention recently due to that fight with Chidi Njokuani, which saw him duck straight into a powerful knee strike in the opening round that opened up a massive gash from eyebrow to eyebrow. In fact, it was such a deep cut that it exposed an artery, but somehow ‘Robocop’ not only survived the blow, but would then go on to drop his opponent with strikes not long after, before eventually going on to TKO him in the round that followed.

It was a memorable win that takes Rodrigues UFC record to 4-1 so far, and he’ll now be looking to use that substantial momentum to try to push into the middleweight rankings in his next fight.

To do so he’ll have to get past the No.14 ranked Tavares, a 12-year veteran of the promotion who is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Driscus du Plessis back in July.

However, the 34-year-old Tavares had won back-to-back fights before that and has picked up six victories from his past 10 fights.

Rodrigues vs. Tavares is the most notable fight booked so far for UFC 283, which will mark the UFC’s return to Brazil for the first time since March of 2020.
