A middleweight fight between Hector Lombard and Anthony Smith has been announced for an as-yet unannounced UFC event on August 19th.
It’s believed that event could well turn out to be the UFC 215 pay-per-view, which still hasn’t been unveiled officially, but is expected to take place in August and is rumored to be bound for Seattle.
This is a vitally important fight for the 39-year-old Lombard as he has now gone without getting a win in his last four fights, including losses via strikes to both Neil Magny and Dan Henderson last year, along with a unanimous decision loss to Johny Hendricks in February of this year.
Nevertheless, it’s interesting to note that Lombard was actually recently calling for a fight with another UFC veteran, former light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans who is also currently down-on-his-luck, but that plea was ignored and ‘Suga’ is now booked to fight Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night 114 a couple of weeks earlier.
Insteaad Lombard will be facing the 28-year-old Smith, and this will mark his most high-profile fight in the UFC to date, coming off a 3-1 run in his second stint in the Octagon that includes recent wins over Elvis Mutapcic and Andrew Sanchez.
At the moment Lombard Vs Smith is the only fight currently attached to the August 19th show.
