Henry Cejudo Bids Dana White Farewell After Title Is Officially Vacated

Henry Cejudo’s retirement appears to now be official after he was removed from the UFC rankings, while it’s also now been confirmed that he’s no longer the bantamweight champion.

Cejudo had surprised many after his last title defense against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 when he revealed that he intended to hang up his gloves, and his latest farewell message to Dana White suggests that he’s not planning to change his mind.

“Thank you for the awesome experiences uncle @danawhite,” Cejudo wrote on Twitter. “I will forever be grateful. Thank you for taking a chance on the sport that people thought would never make it. To all my coaches and fans it been a wonderful ride. Triple C is out #retiredontop.”

Doubt had previously been cast on whether Cejudo was actually serious about walking away from the sport, or if it was just a negotiating tactic to try to get a better deal from the UFC.

Cejudo himself had hinted that he could be persuaded to return for the right fee and recently his manager Ali Abdelaziz had predicted that he’d return to fight in the summer.

However, White appears not to have reached for his chequebook and as things stand Cejudo appears to be giving the impression that he is happy to move on to the next chapter in his life.
