Rising Irish star Ian Garry is getting a step up in competition for his next fight as it’s been announced that he’ll be going up against Geoff Neal at UFC 292 in Boston on August 19th.
The 25-year-old Garry is currently undefeated in his 12-fight career, including five wins in the UFC so far.
His run in the UFC began with a KO finish of Jordan Williams back in November of 2021 and was followed last year by back-to-back decision wins against Darian Weeks and Gabriel Green.
And this year Garry has been staying active with great results so far, TKO’ing Song Kenan in March, followed by a head first round head kick TKO finish against Daniel Rodriguez last month.
That’s taken Garry to No.13 in the welterweight ranks and he’ll now be going up against the No.8 ranked Neal, who is coming off a submission loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov back in March.
Prior to that Neal had been making his mark in the division with back-to-back victories over respected 170lb’ers in Santiago Ponzinibbio and Vicente Luque, the later of which he became the first person to knock out.
Garry vs. Neal joins a UFC 292 card that is expected to be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley, while women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili fights Amanda Lemos in the co-main event.
