Ilia Topuria And Max Holloway Engage In War Of Words Over Potential Title Clash

UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria and former titleholder Max Holloway have got into a war of words about a potential title clash between the two later this year.

Topuria began the exchange after seeing Joe Rogan say on a recent podcast with Holloway that he’d already turned down a fight with another former champ Alexander Volkanovski recently.

“I don’t know who [Topuria] wants to fight next,” Rogan had told Holloway on his show. “But I guess he feels like he’s the champ, he can call the shots. I know that he turned down the Perth one – 305, the Volkanovski rematch.”

That’s not the case according to Topuria though, who has proceeded to not only refute Rogan’s claim, but also take some pot-shots at Holloway too.

“I never turned down the rematch with Alex as the UFC has never offered me this fight,” Topuria wrote on X. “As I’ve said many times before, I will be the first to knockout Holloway. Let’s keep this simple: Do you want to fight? If the answer is yes, there’s nothing more to discuss. Bring my belt and your pillow.”

It’s not the first time that Topuria has demanded that Holloway put the symbolic ‘BMF’ title he recently won by KO’ing Justin Gaethje on the line, and it seems that ‘Blessed’ is more than willing to do that, so long as Topuria stops talking and actually puts pen to paper on a contract to fight him.

“Bro you’re the one making this hard,” Holloway replied. “Ennnnooouuggghhhh already lol. I’ll “bring your belt” The Bitching Mother Fcker All you are doing is putting words together now. You’re spiraling. .”
