Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya has moved over to the UFC and will make her promotional debut against Sara McMann at UFC On FOX 28 on February 24th in Orlando, Florida.
That 28-year-old Russian won the vacant Invicta FC title courtesy of a unanimous decision win over Raquel Pa’aluhi back in August.
Prior to that Kunitskaya had engaged in back-to-back title challenges against Tonya Evinger, winning the first by an armbar submission – though that was later amended to a no-contest ruling after Evinger successfully appealed that she’d been unfairly told to take her foot off of her opponent’s face while attempting to escape the hold.
In the rematch Evinger then turned the screw on Kunitskaya by submitting her with a second-round rear-naked choke, and then moved over to the UFC to fight Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino, paving the way for Kunitskaya to win the belt.
As for the 37-year-old McMann, not so long ago she was enjoying a three-fight winning streak over jessica Eye, Alexis Davis and Gina Mazany, but then saw her run come to an abrupt halt courtesy of a submission loss against Ketlen Vieira in September of last year.
McMann Vs Kunitskaya joins a UFC On FOX 28 card that also includes the likes of Yoel Romero Vs David Branch, Jessica Andrade Vs Tecia Torres and Ben Saunders Vs Alan Jouban.
