Jack Hermansson has had to withdraw from his main event fight with Brendan Allen at UFC On ESPN 45 on June 3rd in Las Vegas due to an undisclosed injury.
The 34-year-old Hermansson had been hoping to get back to winning ways at the event after suffering a split-decision loss to Roman Dolidze last time out at UFC On ESPN 42 in December.
That had continued a familiar pattern of win-one, lose-one for the middleweight fighter over the past few years, picking up notable wins over the likes of Kelvin Gastleum, Edmen Shahbayzan and Chris Curtis along the way, leaving him ranked No.10 in the division.
As for the 27-year-old Allen, it’s not clear yet whether the UFC intends to keep him on the card against a new opponent and whether that would keep him in the main event spot.
Allen is currently ranked No.13 in the division after going on a four-fight winning streak that’s seen him beat the likes of Sam Alvey, Jacob Malkoun, Krzysztof Jotko and most recently Andre Muniz.
As things stand the UFC On ESPN 45 event also features a number of other fights including Miesha Tate vs. Mayra Bueno Silva, Kai Kara-France vs. Amir Albazi and Jim Miller vs. Ludovit Klein.
