Jamahal Hill vs. Khalil Rountree Set For UFC 303

Jamahal Hill is getting a quick turnaround after his UFC 300 disappointment last weekend as he’s now set to fight Khalil Rountree at UFC 303 on June 29th during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.

Hill is just 7 days removed from being knocked out in the first round of a UFC 300 headlining fight against Alex Pereira. That had dashed the 32-year-old’s hopes of reclaiming the light-heavyweight title he had to vacate last year due to suffering a serious achilles tendon injury in training.

Hill had been on a four-fight winning streak prior to his loss against Pereira, having KO’d both Jimmy Crute and Johnny Walker as well as TKO’ing Thiago Santos and then defeating Glover Teixeira via unanimous decision to win the belt.

There had been concerns heading into UFC 300 that Hill may have rushed back from his achilles injury in order to secure the chance to headline UFC 300, and some might also suggest that perhaps he’s now rushing his next fight too given that it’ll come barely more than two months after last Saturday’s KO.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Rountree is looking to build on his current five winning streak in the division that’s littered with finishes inside the distance via strikes.

Along the way he’s TKO’d both Modestas Bukauskas and Karl Roberson, won on the scorecards against Dustin Jacoby and then TKO’d both Chris Daukaus and Anthony Smith.

Hill vs. Rountree joins a UFC 303 card that will be headlined by the long-awaited return of Conor McGregor against Michael Chandler, while Andre Fili goes up against Cub Swanson and Michelle Waterson-Gomes fights Gillian Robertson.
