Jan Blachowicz Knocks Out Luke Rockhold In Second Round At UFC 239

Jan Blachowicz picked up his biggest win to date tonight at UFC 239 with a second round knockout of former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

Round One:

Hard body kick from Rockhold to start. Leg kick for Blachowicz and then another kick for Rockhold. Blachowicz with another leg kick and a push kick from Rockhold in response>

Rockhold in on a takedown now against the cage. Blachowicz defending well for now. Rockhold trying to work the trip that doesn’t work.

Blachowicz down to one knee and Rockhold works for the neck, but doesn’t secure it. Elbow from close range lands for Blachowicz. Now landing a few punches to the body. Rockhold remaining in the clinch though.

Another big elbow to the jaw from Blachowicz. Now he gets free and lands a hook as he does so. Head kick from Rockhold, but Blachowicz eats it. Checked leg kick from Blachowicz.

Rockhold misses with a head kick and Blachowicz counters with a one-two. left hand for Rockhold. Leg kick from Blachowicz. Inside leg kick now.

Another left hand for Rockhold. Kick from him is blocked. Blachowicz with a leg kick. Rockhold’s leg kick checked again.

High kick from Rockhold just whiffs past Blachowicz’s head. Blachowicz with a punch. Rockhold lands. Blachowicz lands to the back of the head and he staggers a bit, while the horn then sounds for the end of the round just as Blachowicz lands a head kick that seems to drop Rockhold.

Round Two:

Good straight from Rockhold lands clean to start, but then he gets clipped too. Hard inside leg kick from Blachowicz. Head kick attempt from Rockhold that’s blocked.

Rockhold moves into the clinch against the cage. He wants to get the fight to the floor, but Blachowicz is defending well again.

Punches to the ribs from both men. They separate and are back to striking range. Right hand and then a huge left hook from Blachowicz sends Rockhold flying backwards onto the canvas, with follow-up punches sealing an impressive knockout victory at 1.39mins of the second round.
