Jessica Andrade Brutally KO’s Karolina Kowalkiewicz In 1st Round At UFC 228

Jessica Andrade put together a convincing case for another strawweight title shot tonight with a stunning first round KO of Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 228.

Round One:

Leg kick for Andrade. She blitzes her with hard left and rights and Kowalkiewicz looks hurt early here. Andrade continues to unload big punches on her, but somehow Kowalkiewicz survives this early storm.

Another strike staggers her a little, but then Kowalkiewicz begins to fire back as she tries to get Andrade’s respect.

Andrade still pressing forward and Kowalkiewicz isn’t out of danger yet. She does land a nice combination though and Andrade bides her time a little more.

She’s still stalking her prey though and suddenly uncorks a huge right hook to the jaw of Kowalkiewicz that sends her toppling flat onto her back on the mat, out cold with 1.58mins of the first round gone.

It’s rare that we get to see as devastating a knockout as that in women’s MMA, but Andrade certainly delivered in style tonight against a former title contender, strengthening her push for aother title shot, this time against current champion Rose Namajunas.
