After another big win on Saturday night veteran star Jim Miller will indeed now be going on to fight at UFC 300 on April 13th in Las Vegas, though not against one of the two opponents he called for.
Miller had been looking to move up to welterweight to fight fellow veteran Matt Brown while also showing an interest in tempting Paul Felder out of retirement, but instead the UFC have opted to pair him up against Bobby Green for the star-studded event.
The 40-year-old Miller had been one of the few fighters to have been all-but-guaranteed to have a fight at UFC 300 due to the fact that he’s aiming to become the only competitor to ever have fought at UFC 100 (where be beat Mac Danzig) and UFC 200 (beating Takanori Gomi) as well.
And despite getting well up there in years now, Miller continues to enjoy remarkably good form in the Octagon, having now won five of his last six fights, beating the likes of Donald Cerrone and most recently Gabriel Benitez along the way.
Now he’ll take on the No.14 ranked Green, an 11-year veteran of the UFC who had a busy 2023 campaign in which he compiled a 2-1 (+1nc) record.
That run began with a fight against Jared Gordon that ended in unfortunate circumstances after a clash of heads late in the first round left his opponent unable to continue.
Green then went on to submit Tony Ferguson and KO Grant Dawson, before suffering a knockout loss against Jalin Turner in December.
Miller vs. Green is the latest fight to join a UFC 300 card that’s still yet to receive a confirmed headliner or co-main event, but will also feature a ‘BMF’ title fight between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway, women’s strawweight champ Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan, Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan, Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksander Rakic, Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar and Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage.
