Jon Jones bitter rivalry with Daniel Cormier is well documented, but ahead of his long-awaited comeback fight at heavyweight against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 next month, ‘Bones’ appears to be ready to bury the hatchet.
“DC you are more than welcome to commentate at my fight, I think you are really good at what you do. I trust that you would be non-biased. All the best brother,” Jones wrote on Twitter to Cormier, who these days is one of the UFC’s main color commentators.
Jones even indicated he’d be open to the idea of Cormier stepping into the Octagon to interview him afterwards.
“Whoever wants to do it, totally cool with me,” Jones told a fan when asked about his post-fight interview.
“I feel like I’m in a whole new chapter of my life, let bygones be bygones.”
That would certainly be a big change from the height of the two star’s bad blood back in 2014 when the two got into a heated brawl both on-and-off-stage at a UFC 278 pre-fight presser.
Jones went on to win their first fight by unanimous decision and then delivered a head kick KO finish in their rematch in 2017, though that was later amended to a no-contest after he tested positive for turinabol metabolites.
