Jorge Masvidal May Not Fight Kamaru Usman Next Says Dana White

For a while now it’s appeared to be set in stone that Jorge Masvidal would be fighting Kamaru Usman next for the welterweight title, but now Dana White has revealed that there might be a twist in the tale.

“We’re talking about a few different things,” White told ESPN. “We have something else interesting for Masvidal that we were just talking about yesterday. We’ll see. We’ll see how this whole thing plays out.”

However, White wouldn’t be drawn further on who he’s got in mind for The ‘BMF’ champion.

“To start speculating down the road now is too soon. Let’s get by these three fights in Florida and then we’ll figure out what’s next. We’re talking about different possibilities with those guys.”

This is somewhat surprising news given that this is a fight they have touting for some time and there is already a rivalry building between the two.

Masvidal remains one of the most in-demand fighters in the UFC at the moment after a trio of electrifying wins that saw him violently KO both Darren Till and Ben Askren, before winning the newly created BMF belt with a TKO finish against Nate Diaz.

With that in mind, the UFC must surely have another big-name, high-profile opponent in mind for Masvidal if they are planning on putting his title shot opportunity on hold.
