Julianna Pena Says She’s Fine After Dana White Claimed She’d Lost A Chunk Of Her Forehead

Dana White claimed on Saturday night that Julianna Pena “lost a chunk of forehead” and had to see a plastic surgeon after a bloody beatdown at UFC 277 on Saturday night that saw her lose the bantamweight title to Amanda Nunes, but it turns out that it wasn’t actually that dramatic.

“Julianna’s got a big chunk missing from her forehead,” White had told reporters at the UFC 277 post-fight press conference. “She’s going to see a plastic surgeon right now. (She’ll) take some time to heal, and then I don’t know. She got pretty banged up tonight. It was like five or six knockdowns in the first two rounds. She was hurt. She needs to take some time off, relax, spend some time with her daughter and then we’ll go from there.”

However, Pena has since issued her own statement indicating that she only required some stiches.

“Tougher than a two dollar steak,” Pena wrote on social media. “Thanks for the love everyone! Just a cat scratch that required a few stitches, no chunks missing, no surgery necessary. Love you all! We’re 1-1 now.”

Still, as White noted, due to the multiple times that Pena was rocked during the fight with Nunes, it would be in the former champion’s best interests to take some time out before looking to get back into the Octagon, though at this stage she’s given no indication of what her plans might be.
