Justin Gaethje KO’s Dustin Poirier With Spectacular Head Kick At UFC 291

Justin Gaethje became the new ‘BMF’ champion in style tonight at UFC 291 with a spectacular head kick KO finish of Dustin Poirier in the 2nd round.

Round One:

The main event for the ‘BMF’ title is underway in Salt Lake City!

Both feel out with the jab but don’t land. Calf kick for Gaethje and Poirier responds with one of his own. Body kick for Poirier. Gaethje with a calf kick that knocked Poirier off-balance a little.

Solid body kick for Poireir. Poirier pressuring forward, but then Gaethje darts forward and lands a nice flurry of punches.

Poirier back on the offense now. Body kick for Poirier and leg kick for Gaethje. Nice left hand and a right behind it from Poirier. Gaethje with a short flurry that lands too. Body kick from Gaethje. Poirier threatening with a head kick attempt.

Straight right for Gaethje. Gaethje throws a hard head kick attempt too. Gaethje lands a punch and an uppercut. Now back to the leg kick for Gaethje.

Gaethje lunges into a body punch but misses. Straight for Poirier to the ye and Gaethje winces and wipes at it.

Good connection from Poirier troubles Gaethje. Very hard right hand from Poirier but Gaethje wears it well and comes forward, landing a leg kick.

Gaethje sporting a cut to the left eye from that earlier punch. He lands a right hand. Leg kick for Gaethje.

Head kick attempt from Gaethje is blocked. Now a calf kick. Body punch for Gaethje. Hard blow lands for Poirier, but Gaethje then loads up on a heavy punch of his own and then another as the round comes to a close.

Round Two:

Missed leg kick for Gaethje and backs up. Low kick lands this time for Gaethje. Left hook grazing the target from Gaethje. He lands again.

Gaethje throws a punch and unleashes a big head kick behind it on the same time that lands clean and sends Poirier crashing to the canvas!!
